Conjecture
A precise mathematical claim for which a proof or disproof is sought.
Proof
A logically valid argument establishing a precisely stated conclusion from explicit assumptions.
Formalization
Encoding a statement and proof in a language a proof checker can verify.
Preprint
A research manuscript made public before or independently of journal peer review.
Lower / upper bound
A lower bound shows that a quantity can be at least a value; an upper bound rules out values above a limit.
Asymptotic
Describing behavior as a size parameter grows, rather than guaranteeing a useful finite-size threshold.
Reproducibility
Obtaining the stated result again with documented data, code, assumptions and environment.
Chain-of-thought faithfulness
Whether a verbal explanation accurately reflects the actual computation that produced an answer.
